
Spicy Tuna Sandwich
A quick and easy recipe for a spicy tuna sandwich, perfect for a picnic or a light meal. The red onion is pre-washed to reduce its pungency while retaining its flavor.

Cut the red onion in half, remove the white root end, and slice it thinly into strips.

Place the sliced red onion in a bowl, add water, and gently massage/wash the onion for a minute to reduce its strong pungent taste. Drain the water and set aside the onion to dry.

Cut the cucumber into quarters lengthwise, remove the seeds, and then dice it into small cubes.

Open the can of spicy tuna and gently squeeze out any excess liquid.

In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, washed and drained red onion, and diced cucumber.

Add salt, black pepper, mayonnaise, and lemon juice to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

Cover the tuna mixture with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Take two slices of white bread. Spread a generous amount of the chilled tuna mixture on one slice. Add a few leaves of fresh lettuce on top of the tuna mixture.

Place the second slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich. Gently press down and cut the sandwich in half diagonally or straight.
