Instructions
- 1
Place the chicken thighs in a bowl and pour in the char siu sauce.
- 2
Mix well so every piece of chicken is evenly coated in the sauce.
- 3
Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes so the flavors soak in — longer is even better for more flavorful, tender meat.
30:00 timer - 4
Place the chicken skin side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer so it cooks evenly.
- 5
Spoon about half of the leftover marinade over the top. Do not overload the sauce yet — the honey in it browns quickly and can burn.
- 6
Air fry at 190°C (375°F) for 10 minutes.
10:00 timer - 7
Flip the chicken over and brush or spoon on the remaining marinade. If it is getting too dark, lower the temperature slightly or line the basket with foil.
- 8
Air fry again at 190°C (375°F) for 4 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
4:00 timer - 9
Garnish with sesame seeds and serve with steamed white rice.
